Dear Parents & Carers,
As we are now aware, Cooroy State School will be open for the children of Essential Workers or vulnerable children only on Monday 02/08 and Tuesday 03/08. All students, including Prep Students are to report to the undercover area adjacent to the tuckshop. Monday will begin from 8:45am in the undercover area. Students will be supported and directed to their class arrangements for the day (It may not necessarily be with their regular classroom teacher or classroom). Tuckshop will not be open on Monday OR Tuesday. Provision will be made for the supervision of students based on the numbers in attendance.
The following email is the plan for week 4 as it is difficult to determine how long the lockdown will go for so we will be taking things slowly.
Monday and Tuesday
- Families will be encouraged to make use of the learning@home website to support sustained curriculum delivery and minimise any disruption to student learning for Monday
Parents
Parents are not to enter school grounds - only for essential purposes.
- All adults must wear masks
- Drop off and pick up outside school grounds
- Prep parents drop off/pick up at the gate – a staff member will be there to escort them to the undercover area
The department also provides a range of materials including curriculum-based activities and resources and online and offsite guide for schools to support sustained curriculum delivery and minimise any disruption to student learning.
On Monday, staff will be working to make the necessary arrangements for those students learning from home to commence remote learning on Tuesday, 3rd August (and beyond should this period be extended beyond the 3/08/21.
- You will receive more detailed communication about learning from home and processes for all students via email over the coming days.
- All adults on site including staff MUST wear face masks and socially distance as part of mandatory obligations (Mandatory mask wearing does not apply to students at Cooroy).
In the current climate, I would like to reassure our families that the health and wellbeing of Cooroy State School students, families and staff is paramount and as a result, our current priorities are to:
1. Minimise the risk of children and staff becoming unwell
2. Minimise levels of fear and anxiety within our school community and specifically for children.

Teachers will email students at the start of their scheduled lesson on Tuesday to explain the platform being used. Information regarding the method for registering attendance in online learning will be communicated to all homes on Monday. If hard copies are required, please email the school on admin@cooroyss.eq.edu.au and arrangements will be advised on how to pick up the work. Please note that any Parent interviews scheduled for this week will be postponed. As more information becomes available, we will investigate the best methods available for interviews so that we can continue to best support our students.
The Government has indicated that this is a snap lockdown that will end at 4pm on Tuesday 03/08. If the lockdown is extended, Cooroy State School will continue online learning on the platforms communicated to students from teachers.
