Cooroy State School's physical education program promotes the acquisition of skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement experiences and activities including gymnastics, perceptual motor skills, ball skills and games, gymnastics, aquatics, athletics, alternative sports such as orienteering and interschool sport.
Through sport, students learn to positively interact with others through communication, leadership, team spirit, fair play and teamwork. Our students experience and learn the skills to understand and appreciate the benefits of leading an active way of life.
Our four Sports Houses are Cook, Paterson, Oxley and Lawson and are enthusiastically supported at our many sporting carnivals and events throughout the year. We also have informal cricket matches and basketball during our lunch breaks.
Throughout the year, sport development co-ordinators in cricket, Oz tag, AFL, rugby league, rugby union and athletics run skills and game sessions to support and strengthen the PE program.
Cooroy State School is an "Active After School Communities" school. Every term after school, two sports are offered free of charge for students to participate in. This gives children the opportunity for them to try new sports, develop new skills and make new friends.
