Academic Talent Development
At Cooroy State School, we are continually looking for ways to develop and extend young minds. We run programs throughout the year that cater for the interests and strengths of students. Some of our main programs and events are;
Voices on the Coast
Our Voices on the Coast Literature Festival is located at the Sunshine Coast University for year 4-6 students. It is a fantastic day full of author and illustrator talks and workshops.
Kids Teaching Kids
Kids Teaching Kids is an education model that uses local environmental issues as a theme for learning. Kids Teaching Kids starts in the classroom and extends into the community through the Kids Teaching Kids learning model and program.
Creative Writing
A mentoring program for talented writers. Students are mentored by a local writing club from the Cooroy Library. They bring their skills back to school to mentor other students.
Sunshine Coast Maths Tournament
An annual local event attended by both state and private schools in the southeast to challenge mathematically minded children from years 4-6.
MLTAQ - World Championships - French
An annual international online event where schools from around the world compete for top rankings in Grades 4-6.
Junior Summit Program
Through a partnership with Noosa District State High School (NDSHS), students are provide with the opportunity to develop skills in Aviation & Aerospace, Digital Design & Multimedia, Science & Agriculture, F1 in Schools, Marine Science and Performing Arts.
