Cooroy State School 1909 with Principal - R.T. Bolton

On March 21st 1907, parents & residents met to decide on establishing a Provisional School in Cooroy.  The Committee paid the Dept. of Public Works to enable a tender to be called to build the school.

The school building measured 7m by 5m and had two verandas and a 1000gallon water tank.

It opened on 18th January 1909 with 18 students and R.T Bolton as headmaster.  The school grew to 64 students by the end of the year.

In May 2009, Cooroy State School celebrated its 100th Anniversary. A fun weekend of activities was organised and many past students were able to return and enjoy old class photos, roll call, and stroll around the grounds to relive past memories.

The original schoolhouse remained a classroom up until 2015 and is still a working part of Cooroy State School.
