Enrolling at our School

Enrolment Process

Enrolments can be arranged through the school office at any time during the school year. Enrolling families will be given a brief tour of the school and provided with an Enrolment package.
  • Please note that Cooroy State School operates under a School Enrolment Management Plan and has a catchment area.  See below for further information on our EMP or contact our office to find out if you are within our boundary.

Enrolment for Prep

Parents and carers are welcome to enrol students for Prep prior to their starting year. From this time, every attempt will be made to provide families with updated information about the school, such as monthly newsletters. During the enrolling year, parents will be able to attend an interview with a school delegate and, in conjunction with our local daycares & kindergartens, have the opportunity to participate in a transition program to Cooroy State School. This program is a comprehensive one with many goals:
  1. Welcome parents to our school
  2. Familiarise new families with school procedures through open afternoons and information sessions
  3. Provide new students with a familiar setting for the introduction of school
  4. Gather information about students in order to best cater for their needs
  5. Ensure a smooth start to school
To determine when your child can commence their prep year, use the prep ready reckoner calculator.

School Enrolment Management Plan (EMP)

We wish to advise that Cooroy State School came under a School Enrolment Management Plan in 2016. Cooroy State School recognises as its prime obligation, the provision of access to an appropriate educational service for students whose principal place of residence is within the school’s catchment area. Because of enrolment capacity and growth, Cooroy State School may be unable to meet this obligation in the future, unless action is taken to manage enrolments. The Principal must restrict the enrolment of out-of-catchment students to ensure in-catchment students can enrol at their local state school, without requiring additional facilities.
  • Student enrolment capacity of school

Cooroy State School has a maximum Student Enrolment Capacity of 601 students. The number of students entering Prep in any given year must not exceed 100 in four classrooms, unless there are more than 100 students enrolling from within the catchment area.
  • Students within catchment

Any student, whose principal place of residence is within the school’s catchment area, is (subject to the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006) entitled to enrol at the school. The school Principal will reserve places for students who move into the catchment area throughout the school year.
